New Module: Ultimate Feed Generator
On Monday we released a brand-new SEO-based MIVA Merchant module called Ultimate Feed Generator. This was prompted by our work on WonderBrains and several other client sites, who needed several things:
- A way to generate feeds for shopping portals such as PriceGrabber, Shopzilla, and more. These shopping portals are often great traffic- and revenue-generators...we're seeing conversion rates of 3x and 4x that of Adwords. They require a file that gives information about all the products in your Miva Merchant store. Some customers were spending hours using a competitor's module, making copies of the output, and then tweaking individual columns by hand. Ultimate Feed Generator lets you save a different feed template for each portal. You can even run all of them by hand.
- An easy way to build sitemaps - both XML and text outputs - for search engine tools like Google Sitemaps and Yahoo Site Submit. Google requires an XML-formatted file with URLs to each page and additional information. Yahoo requires a simple text file with each URL, one per line
- An on-site store map...a single page that links to all product and all category pages. It's a good way for other search engines (who don't offer tools like Google Sitemaps and Yahoo Site Submit) to find links to every page.
- First of all, you can define an unlimited number of templates. Start with our predefined list, and add/delete/edit as needed.
- Second, you can run all of your feeds at one time - or select a subset of your feeds and kick off the generation process. Kick if off in your browser window and then go do something else while it runs. You don't have to do each one individually.
- Full support for different output formats. Simply paste in the correct information (such as an <xml> tag or HTML tags) and give them file the correct file ending (.xml, .html, whatever you want).
- Ongoing NetBlazon support of the module: We'll be providing new templates free of charge via a special area on our website (TBD).
