New Product Flag (Miva Module)

Purpose of Module

The New Product Flag module allows a store administrator to flag certain products as new. (May also be used to flag products as "cool", "popular", etc.) Products can be flagged from one screen, as opposed to having to go through product-by-product.

Customization options include use of a graphical icon or an HTML/text flag, and the ability to include flag on line item layouts and/or expanded layouts.

How to Install
  • Installing the Module
    1. Unzip nbnewflag.zip to your hard drive
    2. Log into your Miva admin utility
    3. Expand the navigation tree next to Modules
    4. Click the link "Add Module"
    5. Click the "Upload File" graphic
    6. Click the "Browse" button
    7. Browse to the location where you stored the files from nbnewflag.zip
    8. Select nbnewflag.mv
    9. Click the "Upload" button
    10. When the graphic has been uploaded, the small "Upload File" window will disappear, leaving you with the main Miva admin screen visible
    11. Click the "Add" button on the main Miva admin screen

  • Associating the Module with a Store
    1. Log into your Miva admin utility
    2. Expand the navigation tree next to Stores
    3. Expand the navigation tree next to the store with which you wish to associate this module
    4. Click the link "System Extension Configuration"
    5. In the assigned module list, you should see an entry for "netBlazon's New Product Flag"
    6. Check the checkbox next to this module and click Update
How to Configure
  1. Log into your Miva admin utility
  2. Expand the navigation tree next to Stores
  3. Expand the navigation tree next to the store with which you wish to associate this module
  4. Click the link "System Extension Configuration"
  5. Click the "New Products Flag" tab
  6. Check the boxes next to "Show on Expanded Layouts", "Show on Line Item Layouts" and "Show on Product Pages" as desired.
  7. If you wish to use a graphic image as the flag, check the box next to "Icon Flag", and use the "Graphic File" textbox to upload or specify the graphic to use
  8. In the textbox for "Text for Flag", enter either the HTML/text to use if not using a graphic image, or enter text (only) to use as the image "alt text" if using an image.
  9. At the bottom of the screen, all of your products are listed. Place a check in the box under the "Mark as New" column for each product you want to flag as new.
  10. Click the update button.
