Purpose of Module

The Multiple Category Columns Plus Module is designed to display products in two or more columns on a store's category (CTGY) screens. It is similar to our Multiple Category Columns module, but allows the store admin to override the default settings for individual categories. For example, a store administrator may choose to display most categories in two columns, but override those settings so that category ABC displays in three columns, and category XYZ displays in one column. The opening table tag and individual td tags can also be customized, allowing the administrator to align the table or content center, left, or right; to apply CSS selectors; to apply background colors, etc.

How to Install

• Installing the Module
  1. Unzip the module's ZIP file to your hard drive
  2. Log into your Miva admin utility
  3. Expand the navigation tree next to Modules
  4. Click the link "Add Module"
  5. Click the "Upload File" graphic
  6. Click the "Browse" button
  7. Browse to the location where you stored the contents of the ZIP file
  8. Select nbmccplus.mv(c)
  9. Click the "Upload" button
  10. When the graphic has been uploaded, the small "Upload File" window will disappear, leaving you with the main Miva admin screen visible
  11. Click the "Add" button on the main Miva admin screen
  
  
  12. Associating the Modules with a Store
      1. Log into your Miva admin utility
      2. Expand the navigation tree next to Stores
      3. Expand the navigation tree next to the store with which you wish to associate this module
      4. Click the link "Utilities" under your store (the top-most "Utilities" link)
      5. In the assigned module list, you should see an entry for "NetBlazon's Multiple Category Columns Plus"
      6. Check the checkbox next to this module and click Update

Administrator Interface - Global Settings

The global, or default, settings will be applied to all categories except those who have been marked to override the default settings. You can access and edit the global settings once you are in the Utilities section, by clicking on the link in the right-hand side of Miva Merchant administration that says "Multiple Category Columns Plus". On this screen, enter the default number of columns for your store in the first box. Then, if desired, you can customize the opening table and td tags. Finally, if you wish to move the product information (such as name, code, weight, quantity in basket, etc) below the image instead of keeping it to the right of the image, check the top checkbox labelled "Move Product Info Below Image?". You may also center the image and product information by clicking the last checkbox labelled "Center Product Image and Info?". (This checkbox has no effect if the "Move Product Info Below Image?" checkbox is unchecked.)

Administrator Interface - Category Overrides

If desired, a given category may have settings that are different from the store default settings. To set the values for a category, click "Categories" in the left side of Miva Merchant administration, locate the category you wish to alter in the list on the right side of the screen, and click the Edit button. Multiple Category Columns Plus adds a new tab to the Edit Category section that is labelled "Multiple Category Columns Plus". Click this to access the settings for this category.

To override the default settings, you should check the checkbox labelled "Override Default Settings?". Any category for which this box is unchecked will use the default settings. After checking the box, set any of the other options as desired. They function in the same manner as the corresponding default settings (see above).
