Spring beckons as a time of new beginnings, and a perfect opportunity to freshen your Miva Merchant website. We provide this newsletter as a continued service to our valuable customers. This edition includes:

  • introductory information about Froogle, the latest exciting offering from our friends at Google
  • information about our latest product releases: Basket Tracker and GoToast ROI Tracker
  • important upgrade information for several of our modules

Froogle Product Search Engine

The latest buzz in online marketing is Froogle! Froogle is a free service from the world's most prominent search engine, Google. Instead of indexing web sites and pages, Froogle lists product information from e-commerce sites across the internet. And because it's free, you can't afford not to be listed.

To place your products in Froogle, you must sign up to obtain a username and password. Once your site has been approved, you will receive instructions on creating a database file and uploading it to the Froogle servers. Your first upload will take several days to appear, because the Froogle staff reviews the submission against their data feed requirements. Once it has been approved, subsequent data feeds are uploaded more rapidly.

New Products

We're pleased to announce two new products, the first of several releases planned over the next few months. Basket Tracker is a utility module that increases your new and return sales by allowing customers to save one or more baskets for future orders. The two most common uses of the module are to allow customers to place items in their shopping baskets, but return at a later time to complete the order, and to allow customers to save baskets for quick reordering in the future.

Our second new release comes in conjunction with our newest partnership with the search engine management company GoToast. GoToast helps you manage your keyword listings and bids across all major pay-per-click search engines (PPCSEs) including Google, Overture, Kanoodle, FindWhat, and more. The GoToast service includes an ROI Tracking Utility that allows a site owner to track each keyword, the number of clicks, the amount spent, and the amount of sales generated--a true picture of outgoing and incoming dollars for every keyword managed. Our latest product, the GoToast ROI Tracker, effectively integrates Miva Merchant with the GoToast ROI Tracking service to provide sales and keyword data for your store.

Product Updates

We've released updates to several of our existing products. Current users of these products may wish to upgrade. If you've purchased these modules from MvCool, you may upgrade by clicking the appropriate link in your module interface. If you've ordered from our site, please contact us at miva@netblazon.com and we'll be happy to provide you with the latest version at no additional charge. (Please note that users wishing to upgrade from uncompiled to compiled will have a small surcharge.)

Subcategory Navigation has been upgraded to allow its use within Viking Coders' Category Page Templates, and to remove the Store_Code parameter from the URL when only one store exists in a domain. This allows Google to spider more of your store's pages.

Category Breadcrumbs has also been upgraded to remove the Store_Code parameter from the URL when only one store exists in a domain.
