After months of anticipation, Miva finally released Merchant version 4.14, the first compiled version. The compiled Merchant can only run compiled modules, while the uncompiled Merchant can only run uncompiled modules. At NetBlazon, we're working hard to get new compiled versions of our products online. At present, only Super Headers and Footers is available compiled, but others will be released as they become available. If you have the need for a particular module to be compiled, please let us know.
At the present time, our upgrade policy for compiled modules has not been determined. It is likely that there will be a fee to upgrade from an uncompiled module to a compiled one. However, the exact amount has not yet been determined. More information to follow in our next newsletter.
It's time to get your store ready for the holiday rush! What to do? First, make sure your store clearly outlines its policies. One of the most common reasons for your customers to go elsewhere is fear of unknown shipping, privacy, and return policies. Provide this information in an easy-to-find location on your site. Let your customers know the following:
Now is also the time to upgrade your store with the latest features! Provide additional information about your products by using our Extra Product Fields module. Improve your category display with our Multiple Category Columns module. And if you have multiple levels of subcategories, improve your site's navigability by adding Category Breadcrumbs to your screens.
NetBlazon is happy to announce that Bob Nilsson is the lucky winner in our September drawing for a free t-shirt! Bob's site, www.massbaytrading.com is a beautiful example of how one can customize the Miva Merchant shopping cart. Massachusetts Bay Trading Company uses several NetBlazon modules including Cat Tree Font Control and New Product Flag.
Quick Order lets you place a form in several locations on your site, that a customer can use to enter a product code to quickly place that item in his or her basket. This module is particularly useful for stores that have a printed catalog as well as an online store.
Page Title Manager lets you change the titles that appear in the browser window titlebar for the various Merchant screens. Give your customers more useful information and improve your search engine rankings as well. Search engines often rank pages using keywords found in the HTML title of the page.)
Attribute Prompt in Basket changes the nasty Merchant habit of placing your attribute and option codes in the customer's basket. Instead, this module shows the more user-friendly prompt.
